Prototype Bugatti Wire Wheels (OEM - Rudge)

Here are some pictures of the progress to date. The spoking pattern is finalized and the drilling angles have been determined. Tooling has been developed to drill the front spoke holes (many thanks to Jerry Kieffer for this) and the mounting system to mate everything to the Pocher chassis is underway.

The wheel has come out better than anticipated. Even though this is a rough prototype I am very pleased with the results. The spoke pattern is a work of art, and as a bonus, it is the same pattern used on the Alfa Romeo's. (Late 2004 project) Please look beyond the clutter, and the dismal state of my poor Bugatti! It is an R & D chassis that will be undergoing restoration in the future.

In the pictures you can see what the wheel looks like with the brake drum either in aluminum or painted black. Normally the brake drums were left in their natural aluminum state, but that doesn't mean they have to be left that way - if you want the spokes to stand out they can be painted. (Note: A proper chromed knockoff will also be supplied).
