Welcome to Precision Scale Replica's website. On these
pages you will find products catering to the person interested in highly
detailed diecast automotive miniatures (CMC), Pocher 1/8 scale kits, custom
fabricated detailing assemblies for Pocher kits, and Sherline machine
products. As time goes on other manufacturers will be added to the lineup.
Precision Scale Replica's is located on the prairies in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
CMC is a world leader for building in detail and offering
various scale replicas at affordable pricing. Of course, "affordable" is a
relative term but when compared to the likes of Exoto, GMP, etc,
they are definitely in the same class. Product lines consist of 1/18 classic
racing and road cars, 1/24 classics, and most recently, a venture into 1/43
scale with their incredible Mercedes Transporter. CMC is located in Germany
with an assembly factory in China. Unfortunately the standard hourly wage in
North America and Europe, to assemble these labour intensive works of art,
would up the price two to three times the cost compared to manufacturing
offshore. Take a look at the offerings and see if anything is of interest to
you.
Pocher. These are
kits consisting of anywhere from 400 parts for the Porsche, to 3000 parts in
the Rolls Royce Torpedo kit. Much has been written and many websites cater
to the build, sale, and the offering of detail parts for these kits. PSR is
no exception and presently has 18 kits in stock. Custom assembly is
available and a line of very neat detailing parts will be available in the
near future, but for a hint of the first product offering, have you found
yourself putting off acquiring a K91 and up Mercedes due to the
plastic wheels...? (An information email will be up and running shortly to
inform anybody interested in the latest accessories). Pricing on Pocher kits
may seem high but unfortunately I have only been able to acquire my stock
through private sources and have had to pay premium prices so I am unable to
offer lower pricing, sorry. There is always Ebay for those looking for a
deal, but lately prices on Ebay are escalating as stocks dry up.
A note to those
not familiar to the Pocher name: As far as I know, Pocher started
manufacturing their "classic" series of kits in the early seventies and
first exhibited them at a Worlds Fair. They were a hit but were highly
priced even then. The kits were manufactured up to the mid to late 90's and
then production ceased with various stories floating around about the
factory burning, high manufacturing costs, or a take over. I'm inclined to
believe the high manufacturing cost scenario, coming from a manufacturing
background, and I really don't believe they will be produced again. For
sure, the Ferrari kits will not be produced again unless Mattel (who bought
the rights from Ferrari to be the sole source for Ferrari scale replicas)
picks up the tooling or licenses Riverossi (present owner of the Pocher name
and tooling) to sell these kits.
One thing for
sure, these kits build up into fantastic miniatures when done well, and as
the saying goes, the adventure is in getting to the end, not in the end
itself.
Sherline Machine
Products. Sherline has been around since 1974 in North America and is
located in Vista, California.. The owner of Sherline, Joe Martin, took the
basic design of a miniature lathe, manufactured in Australia by the Ronald
Sher Pty. Ltd. company, and built up a facility that manufactures precision
machine tools used extensively throughout the hobby, clock making, jewelry,
and gunsmith world. Machining is not as complex as many think. Anybody
capable of tackling the building of a Pocher kit, to completion, would
definitely be able to master the operation of a Sherline lathe or milling
machine. There really is enjoyment and a sense of satisfaction in making
something out of metal. The feeling one gets from having a cutter slicing
through a hunk of brass like it is a piece of butter rates right up there
with all the other good things in life!
Products ordered
from this website are direct shipped from California, usually within 48hrs
of receipt of order. For great White North customers I will be striving to
offer minimum ordering hassles with the ability to handle all brokerage and
customs regulations.. Unfortunately I can't be of help with the exchanges
being what they are, but hopefully my pricing will allow anybody interested
in home machining the ability to break into this fantastic hobby.
Check out the
offerings and if you need any additional info or would like to contact me,
drop a line to me.

Cheers!

Purchases
For now I am only
able to accept wire transfer, cheque or money orders payable to Precision
Scale Replica's. I am now looking into the feasibility of accepting credit
cards through the Paypal system. Will advise shortly.
Shipping
Below are some guidelines for shipping and handling
charges. I will ship by the most economical airfreight with all shipments
being insured. Please advise by email if you have a preferred shipping
method. Please also note that, to protect both you and myself from credit
card fraud, I am unable to ship to a PO Box.
:Shipping for CMC is approx US $10.00 to $15.00 for the first item anywhere in North
America. Shipping charges will be calculated at time of order and you will
be notified if higher than $15.00. An order email confirmation will be sent
with total shipping charges prior to shipment of product.
Shipping for Pocher kits varies from US $25.00 to $50.00 for first item anywhere in
North America depending on size and weight of kit. Kits are shipped in boxes
to protect contents. (Incredibly, I have received kits from Italy wrapped
only in paper!)
Sherline products are direct shipped from California. These items are
sent UPS which, surprisingly, is quite reasonable. For Canadian and
international orders I can handle all brokerage and customs clearances if
required. Total shipping price will be calculated at time of order.
Canadian residents will be charged GST (HST where applicable) on all
purchases. Manitoba residents will have PST added.
Returns
Sherline - 30 Day return policy. Shipping charges are the responsibility of
the purchaser. Warranty is one year from date of purchase.
Pocher - All unsealed Pocher kits are checked over and inventoried prior to
shipment. For these kits a 15% restocking fee will be charged.
Kits must be completely unstarted and all parts still in their respective
packaging (staples intact). Shipping charges are the responsibility of the
purchaser. Sealed kits are also subject to a 15% restocking fee and must
still be sealed otherwise a 25% restocking fee will apply if the seal has
been broken. Please note that the value of these kits drastically decreases
after breaking of the seal. I would much rather iron out any problems
over the phone or via email if any type of a problem is encountered with a
kit. Please do not hesitate to contact me about the above if you have
any questions.
